The current UK election we are told is now being reduced to a question of Security under which Leader will the British People be safest. The Strong and Stable leadership of Incumbent Prime Minister Theresa May and Her Home Secretary Amber Rudd, Or the For the Many and not the Few candidate, The “challenger” Jeremy Corbyn, with his home secretary Dianne Abbot and the,
re -Surgent Labour Party, who under Corbyn have re- discovered Social Democracy.

The Campaign has brought out essentially not merely two different World Views, it has also got to the Issue of the fundamental notion of what makes people Tick are they Good or are they Bad. This question is at the Heart of Western Philosophy

And David Greber described it as the Underside of the Western Tradition in a 2005 Article in the Commoner Periodical.

The worldview approach here reduces to the question of free Will or Determinism. This question has aspects in Science and also in Theology but I am interested in the implicit assumptions about Human nature made by the two different approaches of “Strong and Stable “ and “For the many, not the few”.

Human Nature? This is not something anyone can sensibly generalise about there are a great many of us and for all the categories and personality types and behavioural, cultural and Ethnic traditions, what is the core essence of being Human?

Human Nature or our inner being is I would argue quite a different question to that of Human Psychology what we feel and how we act are often at odds with each other and this tension and conflict is related to the World Views in opposition with the Free will or determinism camps always in opposition and contradiction to each other.

Human Psychology. Is for me tied up with notions of the Ego, the Osho or Buddhist conception of Ego as the false centre is what I have in mind, that is the Image of us that others project onto us ,
the “US” that others see. Human Psychology is the apparatus that processes Ego and our outward interactions with other people in accordance with what we think they are seeing and want to see. That Behaviour , the wish to please or be approved of, is where manipulation comes in, where consent is manufactured, if you will.

Theological arguments around the question of Free-will or Determination go back a long way as well but the Quarrel between St Augustine and Pelagius goes to this point and still remains a point of contention between different Faith Groupings.

My point is that those arguments are arguments about not Human Nature that which we are through Nature or because of God. No, they are to do with Behaviours which are manipulated through the Ego interaction between Our False centres. Our inner beings or true selves are where our deeper Human Nature resides and much of what our Ego or our Human Psychology determines that we should do conflicts with our Human nature, That we do bad things does not mean that our Natures are inherently sinful but only that we can be manipulated psychologically to do things against our Better natures.

morality play and the deadly sin of pride but here I think it would be a good thing to consider.

The onlookers witnessing this event were dumbfounded, as they could not think of anything Cenodoxus had done warranting damnation. He was not known for swearing, cheating, or coveting. And this is the Calvinist Strain of Elitist Democratic Therory and I would argue the root of The Authoritarian World view and its justification for all its doctorines and dogmas.

The question is quite simply does one take back control and make one’s own decisions or does one defer to a higher authority the question is one of Responsibility. This is difficult for St Augustine who had somehow to make Imperfect and born in sin and sinning humans responsible for their own crimes. That’s a long story which I will not go into here.

In the Timon of Athens quote we see the Bard referring to Gold,

This is a nation of inconsistencies. The Puritans fleeing from oppression became oppressors. We fought England for our liberty and put chains on four million of blacks. We wiped out slavery and our tariff laws and national banks began a system of white wage slavery worse than the first. Wall Street owns the country. It is no longer a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, but a government of Wall Street, by Wall Street, and for Wall Street.
